Summary

The article presents an analysis of national and international scientific studies examining the relationship between stress and the development of periodontal diseases. The paper highlights different pathways through which stress affects periodontal tissues, including neuroimmune mechanisms, vascular and trophic changes, behavioral factors, the neuromuscular component, as well as clinical and epidemiological evidence. An association between psychoemotional stress and the condition of periodontal tissues has been established. However, due to the multifactorial etiology of periodontal diseases, stress is not considered an independent etiological factor but rather an important modifier of disease progression. The study substantiates the relevance of a comprehensive approach to the prevention and treatment of periodontal diseases, taking into account the patient’s psychoemotional status.
