Summary

This article, based on the latest literary sources, studies such a topical issue of management theory and practice as the criteria for selecting a company's human resources in the Georgian tourism industry. Based on the data obtained as a result of a survey of companies, it is determined how much importance is attached to their selection, increasing motivation, retraining, acquiring new knowledge and skills in the tourism and hospitality industry. The main goal of the study is to convey the role of human resources in tourism. Also, the paper pays great attention to the personnel development policy in Georgia. With companies in the tourism sector and employees in this field. According to the conducted research, the attitude of the tourism industry and personnel, the personnel selection and development policy in Georgia, problems and various issues are discussed. The paper has an important theoretical role, which will help the interested party, when planning a destination, to identify those factors and needs that will allow us to obtain a competitive tourist destination, its practical significance is manifested in the identification of issues and problems, which gives us a general picture of the existing problems in the region. The main conclusions and recommendations can be used in regional programs for the development of tourist destinations.
