Summary

In the contemporary international security environment, foreign language proficiency has become an important component of the professional competence of military personnel and diplomats. International military cooperation, multinational exercises, peacekeeping activities, defence diplomacy and intergovernmental negotiations require effective linguistic and intercultural communication. This article examines the theoretical and practical aspects of foreign language application in military and diplomatic activities. Particular attention is given to professional terminology, intercultural competence, diplomatic communication, translation and interpretation. The role of NATO STANAG 6001 and the CEFR framework in language training is also considered. The findings demonstrate the need to combine general language knowledge with specialized terminology, communicative and intercultural skills. The article proposes an integrated training model based on situational learning, role-playing, simulations and digital technologies.
