Summary

The article examines the technological process of physical protection system design on the basis of a systems approach. It is shown that this process is not limited to the technical selection of protection means, but also encompasses closely interconnected stages such as assessment of the threat environment, analysis of the functional structure of the protected facility, consideration of spatial and temporal constraints, allocation of resources, and alignment of effectiveness criteria. The design process is presented as a multi-level system consisting of input data, analytical procedures, decision blocks, and output indicators. Based on the systems analysis, it is established that the effectiveness of a physical protection system is determined not by the mere presence of individual technical elements, but by the functional integration of detection, delay, and response mechanisms. The proposed methodological approach makes it possible to identify structural interrelations within the design process, detect weak points at an early stage, and support risk-oriented decision-making. As a result, the scientific and practical significance of applying systems analysis for more substantiated, adaptive, and efficient design of physical protection systems is justified.
