Summary

A woman's age is an important factor influencing the course of pregnancy and childbirth. The article summarizes current data on the clinical and functional characteristics of physiological childbirth in women of different age groups. It shows that the most favorable course of labor is characteristic of women of middle reproductive age (20–34 years). In adolescence, childbirth may be accompanied by anatomical and functional immaturity of the reproductive system and socially determined risk factors, while in women of older reproductive age, prolonged periods of labor, decreased effectiveness of myometrial contractility, and increased frequency of obstetric interventions are more common. The data obtained emphasize the need for an individualized approach to pregnancy and childbirth management, taking into account the mother's age, in order to improve maternal and perinatal outcomes.
